Sawyer's Story

"She cannot be serious" I thought to myself. I have known Rebecca Frazier for over two years now after I adopted a rescue dog from her and we became friends. I assist Becky with photographs of the dogs, facebook posting and transport needs among other things. I am no stranger to loving the "misfits", but this little guy was beyond anything I have ever seen. He had no hair, save a few patches on his head, his right elbow and a bit on his back. He also had a condition called 'cherry eye' which is a prolapsed gland of the third eyelid. This can be fixed surgically. Click here for more information about Cherry Eye.

When I met with Becky to take photos of Sawyer I almost wanted to cry as I thought "no one will want to adopt this poor little guy but Becky will give him a good home". I am not exaggerating at all when I say this guy was destined to be put down at the shelter because he was rejected by all other rescues. "Isn't he just precious?" Becky said. I just looked at her and smiled. He did have a sweet personality and wagged his little back end when I reached down to pet him. Somehow Becky sees these animals with 'God's eyes' and because of this unbridled faith she has, miracles do happen!

Several months after Becky rescued Sawyer, she and I met again to take current photos of him. She kept telling me over the phone how gorgeous he had become, but I just thought "beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to Becky I am sure he is gorgeous". I expected the same little guy with fixed eyes because the 'Cherry eye' surgery is often quite successful and a few more tufts of hair. Now you can see in the photo's below that his beautiful coat and perfect eyes. Rich hues of chocolate, black and honey blend together in a marbled blanket of fur covering him now, and his big brown soulful eyes. He still has the same darling personality with an added spirit because his health has improved so dramatically.

Sawyer is perfect in nature and as Becky saw from the beginning, he is perfectly gorgeous too. He loves everyone he meets and other dogs. He adores children and is generally one of the sweetest animals I have ever met. He is an extraordinary success story to me, but to Becky they are all "success stories". We know Sawyer deserves a special home and are looking to place him with children and at least one other companion pet. Please check out Sawyer and our other dogs for adoption.
